Although it may sound strange, spring and summer have some of the highest rates of electrical issues, mainly due to increased lightning storms, high winds leading to blackouts and pests.
Learn more about these causes below!
Lightning Storms
Each year in the US, lightning strikes about 25 million times! It occurs more frequently in the spring and summer months, with the highest number of strikes occurring in July. Even if it doesn’t hit your home, it can cause problems when it collides with the power line in your area, causing fires, disruptions in service and downed lines.
High Winds
While it may not seem like the wind has much to do with your electrical issues, huge gusts can cause trees or other large objects to fall into the power lines, causing similar problems as lightning storms.
Pests
Electrical problems are probably not at the top of your mind when mice or rats make themselves at home in YOUR home, but their tendency to chew wires can disrupt your power and even lead to a fire.
